Two young men from Brockton are in cuffs following a gritty daylight robbery of a Randolph mail carrier last month. Vashid Mashmasarmi and Soul Gagnon, both 20, faced the law Tuesday after Randolph and Brockton police, with an assist from the Massachusetts State Police, pounced on a black Acura TL linked to the crime spree.
According to Boston 25 News, on the day of reckoning, Gagnon was tackled by detectives as he reached towards his waistband, resisting commands - a scenario that led officers to discover a .40-caliber Glock with the barrel ready to spit bullets, illegally resting on his person.
Mashmasarmi, who made the mistake of showing up during the sting, was promptly searched and found holding the stolen Postal Master key, snatched during the December 27 ambush. "Our detectives' work on this case was phenomenal," lauded Randolph Police Chief Anthony Marag in a statement obtained by Boston 25 News.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the story, WHDH reports that the December heist left the postal worker nursing rib and side injuries after the two masked assailants charged him and commandeered the key that grants access to a kingdom of correspondence. Mashmasarmi now faces charges including unarmed robbery, while Gagnon's rap sheet boasts unlawful firearm possession and more.
