A 21-year-old man has been nabbed by authorities in connection with a road rage shooting in Glynn County that has left two people injured. Jalen Cook was taken into police custody after being linked to the incident which occurred on Dec. 26, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta. Cook faces charges including four counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
According to the Glynn County Police Department, a Brunswick family was forced to brake suddenly on Highway 17 near the port when two vehicles unexpectedly cut in front of them, one of which, a silver sedan, shortly after opened fire. The man in the car was struck by a bullet and, without being penetrated, the woman beside him suffered a wound to the neck. The children, seated in the back, escaped unharmed. This information was released in a statement obtained by First Coast News.
The subsequent investigation saw the Glynn County Police Department execute a search at Cook's residence on Dec. 29, where they found evidence pertaining to the shooting. "Confessed to the shooting," Cook admitted his involvement in the act during a police interview, as per a Facebook post from the police department.
Cook has since been booked into the Glynn County Detention Center, with law enforcement continuing to delve into the complexities of the case. The man refused treatment following the shooting, while his wife received medical attention for the injury sustained to her neck.
