A bank robbery streak across San Bernardino and Riverside Counties was halted cold when a 52-year-old man was nabbed, authorities said. Aresh Narmaki of Chino Hills was arrested last Thursday after detectives from both counties joined forces to track down the suspected robber, believed to have hit banks in Chino Hills and Riverside.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Narmaki's spree began with a December robbery in Riverside, followed by another heist on January 4 at a Wells Fargo Bank in Chino Hills, where detectives shared info that tied him to both crimes after the second robbery, RSD, and Chino Hills detectives orchestrated the investigation that would lead to Narmaki's downfall.
Law enforcement took decisive action on January 11, with San Bernardino County Sheriff's Specialized Enforcement Division assisting in Narmaki's arrest and a search of his Blossom Lane residence, said Sheriff Shannon D. Dicus. The search unearthed evidence linked to the robberies and, more chillingly, a device in Narmaki's garage that was consistent with an improvised explosive device, prompting evacuations and a bomb squad intervention.
After the SBCSD's Bombs and Arson detail neutralized the explosive, the street was reopened and residents returned to their homes. Ultimately, Narmaki was booked for armed robbery and is currently held at the West Valley Detention Center.
The case is ongoing and authorities are digging for further leads—anyone with information can reach Chino Hills Police or submit a tip anonymously through the We-Tip Hotline or their website.
