Cleary Lake Regional Park is inviting the community to dive into winter fun with a roster of chilly adventures. In a recent post by Scott County, locals are encouraged to "embrace the winter season and play in the snow," offering activities that range from cross-country skiing and snowshoeing to a wellness walk capped by a toasty bonfire complete with marshmallow roasting.
Defying the cold, the park's Outdoor Recreation School along with the Scott County Wellness programmer are gearing up to teach attendees the ins and outs of winter sports. According to the county's announcement, "Rent skis and get a few pointers before exploring the trails on your own." The initiative is designed to bring people of all skill levels into the fold, doling out ski equipment for free on a first-come-first-served basis.
The event also lays out a slower-paced "winter wellness walk," promoting physical health in the brisk air. Children 11 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult as they indulge in the snowy escapades. With activities that are inclusive to all ages, the county aims to bring together a diverse crowd, warming hands and hearts by a community bonfire.
The program boasts an open-door policy, where registration is encouraged but walk-ins are still welcome. The laid-back nature of the event is evident, ensuring that sophisticated gear isn't a barrier to entry, with the assurance that "Snowshoes provided and ski rentals available for free." Start times and other specifics can be found by visiting Scott County's official website, all coordinated to ensure that individuals of every level can glide, shuffle, or simply amble their way through a winter wonderland.
