Compton's own Sheriff's deputies nailed a four-person robbery crew suspected of running a series of heists across Los Angeles County. The takedown happened after a on South Long Beach Boulevard got hit by the gun-toting squad Thursday night, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reported.
The crew was busted late Thursday, January 18, with clocks ticking near the witching hour at 10:49 p.m. When deputies swarmed the scene, they uncovered not only stolen loot but devices, and replica guns that mirrored deadly firepower. With high-technology tracking in the mix, law enforcement didn't waste time rounding up the suspects in their getaway car, and arrests made slick without a single snag, according to the Sheriff's Information Bureau.
The inside of the suspects' ride revealed evidence, including U.S. cash from the convenience store's till and additional bills. The dummy guns—deceptively resembling semi-automatic pistols—were confirmed to be mere BB Guns.
Deeper digging by the Compton Station Detectives has strung together a web of crimes potentially pinned to this crew between January 14 and January 19. With multiple cities like Lakewood, and Glendale sucked into the series of thefts, the next steps are mapping the full stretch of their criminal road trip.
Following the felony stop, all suspects were shipped off to Century Regional Detention Facility, justice awaiting in the wings.
