Residents of the usually peaceful Crestline area can breathe a bit easier as authorities nabbed a man they believe is behind a spate of vehicle burglaries. San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 30-year-old Dustin Schneider, a local of Crestline, on a laundry list of charges including firearm possession by a felon, grand theft, and identity theft.
A weeks-long investigation by the Twin Peaks Station detectives pointed them in the direction of Schneider, culminating in a search warrant executed at a Lucerne Valley residence on January 11. The raid turned up a trove of allegedly stolen goods ranging from a firearm to credit and ID cards, according to a release by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department which was published on Nixle.
San Bernardino County's own, already on probation for similar offenses, now faces nine felony charges and two misdemeanors to boot. Schneider's bail is set at a steep $1,000,000 as he cools his heels at West Valley Detention Center. Law enforcement believes there could be more to this story and urges anyone with information to come forward—offers of anonymity are on the table for those wishing to keep a low profile when they chat with the cops.
The authorities provided contact details for Detective D. Garcia or Deputy O. Romero-Rios at the Twin Peaks Station for tipsters. Alternately, informants can dial the We-Tip Hotline or leave information on their website, committing to the community's safety without putting themselves on the frontline.
