A 19-year-old man named Trent Aslin was arrested and charged with DWI and evading arrest in Dallas after a late-night chase that led to a car crash. The incident began shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday when Dallas police attempted to stop Aslin in the 2900 block of Thomas Avenue, but he allegedly fled the scene leading to the pursuit, as reported by FOX 4 News.
The chase concluded when Aslin was involved in a crash at the intersection of Hall Street and Thomas Avenue, where he struck another vehicle and the driver of that vehicle was hospitalized with injuries that were deemed non-life-threatening. This led to the police taking Aslin into custody, according to NBC DFW.
The crash, authorities said, happened around 3 a.m. near the Uptown neighborhood, a time and place where Dallas streets are often still busy with the nightlife crowds. Both vehicles were reportedly found on the median of the intersection following the collision, as per the details of the crash described by authorities.
As authorities continue to investigate the circumstances that led up to the incident, no additional information has been disclosed concerning Aslin's motives for fleeing or the conditions leading to the attempted traffic stop. Yet Dallas Police emphasize that the probe into the resulting crash is still active, while the condition of the hospitalized driver remains stable. As for Aslin, the young man now faces the stark realities of the criminal justice system as he is processed for his alleged actions that night, per NBC DFW.
