A Danville man is behind bars following a family disturbance that escalated to violence, the Danville Police Department reported. Kevin Xu, 24, is accused of assaulting his father with a deadly weapon on Glasgow Circle before fleeing the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement.
After police were called to the 200 block of Glasgow Circle on January 20 at 2:18 pm, a search ensued for the suspect, who was nowhere to be found; a warrant for his arrest was issued that same day. According to the Danville Police Department's Facebook page, officers worked through the night, canvassing the neighborhood and relying on tips from local residents to track down Xu.
The search concluded the next morning when Xu was discovered on Grassland Court at 6:38 am, where authorities successfully established a perimeter and apprehended him without incident. “The Danville Police Department would like to thank community members within the search area for their help in reporting suspicious activity that greatly assisted in the apprehension of Mr. Xu,” the Department expressed in a Facebook post.
Currently held at the Martinez Detention Facility, Xu faces charges for Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Resisting Arrest. The case, described by authorities, is slated to be reviewed by the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office later this week.
