Tragedy struck in North Hollywood where an elderly man fell victim to a fatal hit-and-run, as reported by the LAPD Newsroom. The incident occurred on January 18, when a white sedan, driving northbound on Vineland Avenue past Vanowen Street, struck the man as he crossed the street. Witnesses reported that the vehicle did not stop to provide aid or identify themselves, in violation of the law.
Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the emergency, only to pronounce the man, believed to be between 60 and 70 years old, dead at the scene. In the dilemma of the aftermath, the identity of the man is still withheld as officials await proper notification of next of kin.
As the authorities investigate this callous crime, they are turning to the community for help. In hopes of justice, a reward of up to $50,000 is being offered for information leading to the identification and conviction of the driver responsible. This incentive derives from the 2015 amendment to the Los Angeles Administrative Code, which established a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund.

Contact can be made to the detectives – Detective Otrosina at (818) 644-8036 or Officer Krueger at (818) 644-8020.
