AUSTIN, Texas — Emancipet, a local nonprofit, is gearing up to open its larger, cutting-edge veterinary clinic in Austin come April, designed to serve the underserved with low-cost dentistry and surgical procedures. Gone are the days where pet owners had to shell out a small fortune for their furry friends' medical needs, courtesy of Emancipet's new Dental and Surgical Center, set to provide affordable access to dental cleanings, extractions, and soft tissue surgeries.
The new facility will not only fill a gaping need in the community but is also expected to accommodate up to 4,000 low-cost dental treatments, and 3,600 low-cost soft tissue surgeries annually. Emancipet's ramping up efforts could be a game changer for Austin pet owners, especially when faced with surgical interventions that include mass removals, wound repairs, and other specialized treatments that, without a doubt, can quickly rack up the bills, according to a CBS Austin.
The organization's growth isn't just about expansion but a commitment to reach more pets than ever before. The report stated Emancipet's projection that its new center will treat more patients in its first year than the last five years combined at its existing Norwood Park Clinic.
The partnership with PetSmart and backing from PetSmart Charities have catapulted the project from wishful thinking to reality, turning the tide in favor of affordability in pet health care, as per FOX 7 Austin.
Amy Mills, president and CEO of Emancipet, who expressed her enthusiasm for the project, saying, “Dentals and surgical procedures are in high demand and very few low-cost options exist for these services, which creates extremely difficult situations for pet owners and veterinarians.” She added, “Emancipet’s new Dental & Surgical Center has been a dream of mine, of our stakeholders and, of Emancipet’s for some time,” as reported by CBS Austin.
