Minnesotans eager for outdoor adventure despite the chills could consider joining the Winter Hiking Club at Cleary Lake Regional Park, where the winter nights become a stage for exploration and fitness. Starting February 5 through to the 26, every Monday evening from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., those looking to stay active during the colder months now have a scheduled rendezvous with nature.
Conducted by an Outdoor Recreation School instructor, participants will get a good taste of the Scott County parks. Discovering a different trail each week, now they'll be well equipped to handle any conditions thanks to Nordic walking poles, traction devices, and snowshoes, all provided based on the day's weather. The club prides itself on not just offering a walk in the snow, but an entire winter experience that's meant to be both engaging and physically rewarding.
The initiative is also a social platform for like-minded individuals, with the potential to forge new friendships or just enjoy a brisk walk with an old friend. Whatever the reason, people are finding ways to enjoy the winter outside of the usual indoor gym routine. For anyone hesitant about braving the cold, the club has a tempting offer: a 20 percent group discount for parties of four or more.
The cost to join this frosty fun is $24, with a limited number of participants to ensure a quality experience for all involved. To reserve a spot on the trail, participants can dial 763-559-6700. Adults aged 18 and above are welcome to partake in the outdoor escapades and once signed up, participants will receive an updated schedule so they can lace up their boots and hit the ground walking.
For more information and details on how to sign up, interested parties can visit the Scott County website.
