Tired of being cooped up this frosty February? Cleary Lake Regional Park is offering city slickers a chance to trade concrete streets for snowy trails with a family-friendly snowshoeing event. On Saturday, February 10, from 11 AM to 12:30 PM, novices and enthusiasts alike can learn from Outdoor Recreation School instructors how to properly stomp around in snowshoes. The park promises a snowy adventure where attendees can search for signs of wildlife, if Mother Nature obliges.
Should the weather not deliver the winter wonderland needed, the day won't be a bust – a hike along the park's trails is the backup plan. So, rain or shine, or more aptly, snow or no snow, the walk will go on. And for those without their own gear, rest easy; snowshoes will be provided. Priced at a reasonable $6 per participant, it's a steal of a deal for a day out with the family, according to a recent announcement from Scott County's official website.
Reservations are not just recommended; they're required. With a quick call to 763-559-6700, interested parties can secure their spot. The snowshoeing event is designed for people age 5 and up, and any kids 11 and under will need to bring a responsible adult with them—someone to make sure the day goes smoothly and nobody gets their wires, or shall we say, laces crossed, as per Scott County, Minnesota.
