Thwarted by tech and quick police work, a would-be burglar was caught red-handed in Fairfield, California. According to the Fairfield Police Department, a man's attempt to pilfer a retail store was abruptly cut short thanks to an alert manager and diligent law enforcement. The incident unfolded at a store on the 1200 block of Travis Boulevard where, through surveillance video, the manager spotted an intruder during the pre-dawn hours of January 10.
Police were on the scene at approximately 6:11 am, to quickly find that the store had a window broken. Officers set up a perimeter with the intention to carefully comb the building, leading them swiftly to 29-year-old Devante Arnold-Crew, the man captured on the store's surveillance footage. Arnold-Crew, who is from Fairfield, was found with a backpack filled with electronics and a pruning knife, presumably taken from the store.
"Our thanks to the alert store manager who called this in," a Fairfield Police Department Facebook post read. The post, which credited the manager's quick thinking and police efficacy, detailed the arrest saying, "The call, coupled with the timely response of our officers, led to the swift interruption of this burglary in progress." The Fairfield Police Department confirmed that Crew was arrested without further incident and subsequently transported to Solano County Jail.
