
In the early hours of January 13, a woman tragically lost her life in Santa Monica when she was struck by a vehicle while pushing a cart along Lincoln Boulevard. Police confirmed the pedestrian, believed to be in her 50s and potentially homeless, remains unidentified after the incident that occurred at approximately 1:50 a.m. in the 2900 block of the thoroughfare.
The driver involved in the fatal collision was heading southbound in the number, one lane when the accident happened. According to officials, the motorist stayed at the scene and is working with detectives to piece together what occurred. Reports from the scene indicated no signs of impairment on the driver's part.
The Santa Monica Police Department has issued an appeal to the public for anyone with additional information to come forward. Witnesses or those with relevant knowledge have been urged to contact Investigator Evan Raleigh through his email, as stated in a press release from the municipality's website.
The investigation is ongoing and, as of yet, no charges have been filed against the driver.
