Firefighters in New Hampshire faced down a fierce inferno on Saturday, as a fleet of oil tankers at North Atlantic Fuels went up in flames. The conflagration in Epping demanded a robust response from several fire departments, with the Exeter Fire Department at the forefront.
The fire chewed through three oil tankers and a tractor-trailer, engulfing them in a massive sea of fire. The situation was serious enough to necessitate aid from a crash truck from Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, which supplied foam fire suppression. In addition to this, a Southeast HAZMAT team joined the fray, delivering another 500 gallons of foam to squelch the flames, CBS News reported.
Meanwhile, the fire department kept the public in the loop via social media, posting harrowing footage of the fire-engulfed truck bodies. Alarming visuals showed crews dwarfed by the fierce blaze, contrasting the power of human diligence against the ferocity of the flames.
The combined efforts of the emergency teams bore fruit just before 7 p.m, with the Exeter Fire Department sharing the good news that the fire, had been wrestled into control. Despite the dramatic scene that unfolded, officials have confirmed that there have been no injuries, a testament to the swift and effective response of the firefighters on the scene, Boston 25 News reported.
