Firefighters in Hollywood tackled a blaze on Thursday evening at a three-story apartment building that erupted near a wall heater, according to a Los Angeles Fire Department alert. The LAFD reported the fire started in one second-floor unit of the Las Palmas Hotel on 1738 N Las Palmas Avenue at around 8:12 PM.

The knockdown report revealed that it took a squad of 38 firefighters a swift 21 minutes to contain and extinguish the flames which were kept in check by a fire sprinkler. The ignition point appeared to be in the vicinity of a wall heater, fire officials stated.

No injuries have been reported as a result of the fire, and the exact cause is still subject to an ongoing investigation. Thankfully, due to the building's fire sprinkler system's effectiveness, the fire was prevented from spreading beyond the single unit where it originated.

Representing the LAFD, Brian Humphrey expressed, "First arriving 38 LAFD Firefighters took just 21 minutes to access, confine and fully extinguish stubborn flames in the vicinity of a wall heater, and held in check by a fire sprinkler." The fire department's prompt response averted what could have escalated into a large-scale disaster.

The incident occurred in Council District 13 and was managed by units FS 27, Batt 5, and the West Bureau. The second-floor unit where the fire was located is part of the Las Palmas Hotel, a structure measuring 19,280 square feet.
