A former Georgia high school cheerleading coach has found herself on the wrong side of the law after being charged with sexual assault involving a student. Audrianna Williams, who once went viral for a back-to-school rap, was arrested on Dec. 26 and bonded out the same day, as revealed by Channel 2 Action News. Williams is accused, of "engaging in sexually explicit conduct with another person whom she knows is a student enrolled at the school of which she is an employee," according to the arrest warrant.
Before her arrest, Williams made a graceful exit from Monroe Comprehensive High School in mid-December, shortly after district officials launched an investigation into allegations of an inappropriate relationship between her and a student. In a statement obtained by Channel 2 Action News, the Dougherty County Board of Education unanimously voted to accept Williams' resignation "in lieu of termination," with a follow-up report to be sent to the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
The former coach's fall from grace comes after a period of widespread acclaim in August 2020, when Williams, along with a colleague, created a viral video that captured hearts with its inspired take on a back-to-school message during the nascent days of the COVID-19 pandemic. The video not only resonated with the community but also caught the attention of celebrities like rapper Jack Harlow. “To get messages from the students saying, ‘I’m sorry, Mrs. Williams, I won’t be able to do my work because I have COVID’ or ‘I’m sorry my dad passed away.’ So it was kind of like, wow,” Williams recalled in an interview with The Messenger.
