Fredericksburg Police Department is on the lookout for a male suspect involved in an aggravated robbery that turned deadly at a local Kwikcheck Convenience Store. CBS Austin reported that the incident occurred late Tuesday night around 11:45 p.m. on South State Highway 16 in Fredericksburg, Texas.
According to the Fredericksburg Texas Police Department, when officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a male individual with a gunshot wound who was later pronounced deceased. The victim has been identified as 48-year-old Arthur Cortez, of Fredericksburg. The clerk, who faced a harrowing demand for money at gunpoint, sustained no physical injuries during a robbery.
Surveillance footage from the store, reviewed by the authorities, showed the suspect entering the store dressed in a dark-colored hooded long-sleeve shirt or light-weight jacket, ball cap, blue jeans, and gloves. The man was seen carrying a duffel bag. In a calculated and chilling turn of events, he donned a white skull mask in the back of the store before reemerging to carry out the crime.
The suspect, still at large and considered armed and dangerous, was last seen on foot. Police have issued a description of the man, advising the public to be on the lookout for an individual matching the suspect's attire, including the notable white-colored skull mask.
