Frisco is tuning up for another round of original tunes as the Calaboose Singer Songwriter Series returns for its third encore, and if you’re all about supporting live music with a side of storytelling, this is where you'll want to be. Kicking off on January 25 with the likes of Slade Coulter & Brian Chance, the series rolls out a lineup that has music buffs buzzing. The gigs are free and are set to go down in the historic heart of Frisco's Center City district, either on the verdant Heritage Center lawn or inside the rustic Depot, weather dictating, according to the City of Frisco.
The event is as much a social mixer as it is a musical showcase, so gather your posse and pack those coolers tight. Bring an appetite for discovery, after all, sharing the musical love is what the Calaboose series is known for. While February's artist remains a mystery for now, the word on the street is that March 21 will see Matt James, Mila Rae, and Shea take the stage, with Joint Custody rolling in on April 11.
Reflection on past Calaboose gatherings evokes a hall of fame that includes seasoned performers like Max & Heather Stalling and Dan Johnson, whose songs echo in the memories of Frisco's music aficionados. Combing through the roster of past players, it's clear the series isn't just a flash in the pan. Johnny Cooper, Lacey Ingram, and others have undoubtedly left their footprints on the local scene, setting the bar for those who follow.
