Authorities in Gainesville are on the hunt for a bank robber who struck a Wells Fargo branch on Browns Bridge Road. The Gainesville Police Department reported that the incident unfolded close to noon on Tuesday, when a man employed a note to demand cash before fleeing with an undisclosed sum.
Witnesses described the suspect as wearing a distinctively hued green and black puffer coat, and GPD has not yet been able to release further details regarding his identity. According to information obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta, the male suspect executed the theft without revealing a weapon and successfully escaped the scene on foot thereafter.
"A white or Hispanic male entered the bank, presented a note demanding cash, then left the scene," relayed Lt. Kevin Holbrook in a statement to AccessWDUN. Both the Gainesville authorities and the community at large are calling upon those who may harbor any knowledge to step forward - in hopes of rendering aid to the ongoing investigation.
As the Gainesville Police workforce combs through evidence and seeks to acquire a better description of the assailant, they urge anyone with potential leads to reach out. The department has made available a specific telephone number, (770) 536-8812, for tips and also offers an online option, for those who prefer such a method of communication.
