In a bizarre twist of events, a Georgia man tried to play cops and robbers with the actual police and got slapped with real charges. Shawn Brown found himself in handcuffs after pulling a fake police badge on Marietta officers, trying to arrest them on grounds they were "assaulting an officer." According to Fox 5 Atlanta, the incident occurred when officials encountered Brown disrupting traffic, boldly walking in the middle of the road.
The confrontation escalated, when Brown showed a badge labeled "Special Police" and proceeded to read the officers their Miranda Rights – a spectacle that surely would have been comical, had it not been a serious offense. Instead of putting the officers behind bars, Brown ended up on the other side of the law. He now faces charges for impersonating a police officer, obstruction, terroristic threats, and giving a false name, as reported by WGMD.
The Marietta Police dealt with the situation without incident, bringing Brown into custody where he was later booked at the Cobb County Jail. His attempt to flip the script on law enforcement indicates a grave misunderstanding of the legal system, or perhaps a misguided fantasy of authority.
The motivations behind Brown's actions are still unclear, but the consequences, are undeniable. He currently remains in county custody, awaiting the justice system to deal its hand. Georgia officials have yet to comment on the mental state or the intent of Brown during the time of his ill-conceived attempt at playing officer.
