Aiming to bolster economic ties and drive further investment into the Texas State, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has embarked on a nine-day trade mission to India. The governor's office announced that Abbott, along with other state officials and business leaders, will engage in a series of meetings designed to promote Texas as a prime destination for global partners looking to expand or invest in the United States.

The tour, kicking off on January 19 and lasting until January 28, includes discussions with Indian executives and government representatives to cultivate trade, job growth, and investment from Indian companies in Texas. Departing to showcase the strength of Texas’ economy, the delegation aims to expand on an already robust partnership with India. Striving to tap into sectors ripe for collaboration, Governor Abbott will capitalize on opportunities that fuse the industrious spirit of Texas with the emerging markets in India, according to the Office of the Texas Governor.

Joining Abbott on this economic crusade are several high-profile figures, including First Lady Cecilia Abbott and Secretary of State Jane Nelson. As per a statement obtained by the governor's official website, Adriana Cruz, the Executive Director of the Governor’s Economic Development & Tourism Office, and Aaron Demerson, President & CEO of the Texas Economic Development Corporation, are also part of the delegation to fortify ties overseas.

Integral to the delegation's strategy is a contingent of city and industry representatives, such as Linda McMahon from the Dallas EDC and Harry Whalen from the Frisco Economic Development Corporation, who bring to the table an in-depth understanding of the Texan economic landscape. Aiming to connect potential Indian partners with robust investment options, these figures represent more than their titles—they embody the ambitions of a state ready to welcome groundbreaking ventures.

India has become a significant contributor to Texas' economic development, being ranked ninth for foreign direct investment (FDI) projects in the state. With Texas branded as the top U.S. destination for Indian FDI capital investment and job creation, the groundwork is laid for advancing this alliance. Governor Abbott said "Texas is America’s—and the world’s—premier economic destination because of our dedication to cultivating a business-friendly environment where companies have the freedom and resources they need to thrive," as per the Office of the Texas Governor.
