
The manhunt for a gunman in Moreno Valley has come to an end as authorities confirmed the arrest of suspect Christian Chavez, 36, stemming from a shooting incident that left one victim in critical condition. The Riverside County Sheriff's Office reported that deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station, along with their Fugitive Warrant Enforcement Team, apprehended Chavez in a San Pedro residence on January 25th, following an investigation into the shooting that occurred on January 22nd.
According to a press release obtained by Riverside County Sheriff's Department, during the arrest operative items pertaining to the case were seized, and Chavez was subsequently booked on charges of attempted murder at the Robert Presley Detention Center, meanwhile, the victim remains hospitalized and stabilized from the injuries sustained. The incident originated on Scarlet Sage Way, Moreno Valley, where deputies had earlier quizzed witnesses and gathered evidence, but the suspect had fled prior to their arrival.
Hoodline previously reported that gunshots disrupted the quiet of Moreno Valley's evening, leading to the injury of an unidentified individual, the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station promptly responded to the call for help near Hemlock Avenue and Pigeon Pass Road. The victim was given immediate medical attention and transported to a hospital whose condition was at that point undisclosed, shrouded in confidentiality.
The community had been on edge since the event, before Chavez's capture, with a collective breath held for the resumption of peace in their daily lives and the sheriff's department had been tight-lipped about the details of the shooting, focusing on the investigation with Investigators asking those who might know anything to step forward with information that could assist them, according to an interview obtained by Hoodline.
