A Havasu Lake man has landed in the clink on felony vandalism charges after deputies allegedly caught him up to no good on a quiet neighborhood street. Sheriff's deputies report that Craig Vitro, 53, was busted on the 20 block of E Street, after they were called to the scene on the morning of January 6.
Things got hairy when deputies arrived and said Vitro became "uncooperative." In a tense moment, the man grabbed a weapon on his kitchen counter, prompting the cops to tase him. After a "brief struggle," as the official press release states, they managed to slap the cuffs on Vitro and haul him off.
The Sheriff-Coroner Department's report detailed that Vitro was charged with PC 594(B)(1) - a standard citation for felony vandalism. Craig Vitro's brush with the law didn't end with his detention. After being checked out at a local hospital, he was taken to jail where he sits with bail set at a cool $30,000, pending a future court appearance.
With the investigation ongoing, officials are keeping mum on the details concerning the victim or the specific damage caused by Vitro's alleged shenanigans. Sheriff-Coroner Shannon D. Dicus has made a call to action, urging those in the know to step forward and contact Deputy E. Olmos at the Colorado River Station/Needles Police Department.
