
In the early hours of Tuesday morning, tragedy struck Moreno Valley as a pedestrian was fatally struck by an Isuzu Trooper at the intersection of Perris Boulevard and Bay Avenue, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department reports. The incident occurred at approximately 5:04 a.m., prompting a swift response from local deputies and Cal Fire paramedics, who despite best efforts, pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the fatal mishap stayed at the location and has been cooperating with law enforcement officials, as per the information provided by Sergeant Marcos Acosta. Eyewitnesses and anyone with knowledge of the grim incident are encouraged to reach out to Deputy Jason Slover at the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station with details, drugs and alcohol did not appear to play a role, authorities said.
Investigators are delving into the circumstances that led to the collision as the Isuzu Trooper was reportedly traveling southbound when it collided with the unidentified victim, who was crossing the street at the time, the cause of this fateful encounter is still under investigation, with Perris Boulevard briefly closed between Cottonwood Avenue and Alessandro Boulevard for the scene to be thoroughly examined and evidence gathered.
The identity of the pedestrian has been withheld, pending the difficult task of notifying their next of kin.
