A pedestrian met a tragic fate on Monday evening in a collision with a vehicle on Limonite Avenue, Jurupa Valley. The incident, reported at approximately 8:32 p.m., prompted a response from deputies of the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Upon arrival, the officials discovered the victim had suffered serious injuries after being struck by the vehicle. The driver, who was reportedly unharmed, stayed at the scene and was cooperative with the subsequent investigation, said Sergeant Javier Morando in a statement.
The Jurupa Valley Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team took over the case to determine the events leading up to the accident. According to preliminary findings, the driver was traveling eastbound at or near the posted speed limit. The pedestrian, who was in the middle of the eastbound lane moving southbound, was hit by the vehicle under unclear circumstances. It has not been established whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
Following the accident, Limonite Avenue remained closed between Camino Real and Peralta Place for several hours to allow for a detailed investigation. The identity of the deceased is currently withheld pending the notification of next of kin. Anyone who might have further information is encouraged to contact Deputy Eric Petersen or the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
