Law enforcement officials in Loma Linda are on the hunt for a suspect following an attempted murder on Christmas Day. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, the violent encounter took place in broad daylight in front of the Veterans Apartments located at 25281 Van Leuven St, around 1:20 p.m.
Deputies responded to an emergency call where they found Brandon Wilson, 46, a resident of the area, suffering from head wounds. The victim, discovered on the sidewalk was unresponsive and consequently rushed to the Loma Linda University Medical Center for urgent care, the department stated.
Witnesses at the scene have described the assailant as an unknown black male adult, about 5'8" with an average build. He was last seen wearing a blue sweatshirt, and blue sweatpants and sporting a short afro hairstyle, armed with what appeared to be an aluminum pole or a baseball bat.
After the attack, the suspect was reported to have walked west on Van Leuven St. toward Poplar Street, according to the Sheriff's Department Deputy R. Olivares, who is handling the investigation. The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department is calling upon the public's assistance to help bring the suspect to justice - urging anyone with information to come forward.
