A quiet Long Beach neighborhood was disrupted by gunfire on the eve of New Year's on 6th Street and Linden Avenue. The Long Beach Police Department responded to a call of shots fired around 5:58 p.m. on December 30, 2023.
When authorities arrived, they were greeted by spent bullet casings on the ground. Luckily, no injuries were reported. Investigators have yet to pin down a suspect or uncover a motive behind the shooting.
A statement provided by the Long Beach Police Department's official blotters affirmed that "officers located evidence, including bullet casings, indicating a shooting had occurred" in the shooting that left no one injured.
Ensuing investigations are still active as detectives are hitting the pavement, seeking out leads and potential witnesses, and asking anyone with information on the shooting to come forward, the LBPD works tirelessly to piece together the fragments of that evening. The case remains open; the LBPD urges anyone with information to contact the department as the new year begins with an unsolved act of violence, yearning for resolution.
