
Gunfire erupted on the streets of Long Beach last night in what the police are calling a "negligent discharge" situation. The Long Beach Police Department responded to a shots call at around 9:01 p.m. on the 2100 block of Cedar Avenue, according to a press release.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement found evidence of a shooting, notably strike marks on the area's surfaces and spent bullet casings. Fortunately, in this incident, there were no reports of injuries, the LBPD confirmed. However, details on the suspect, or suspects, along with the motives behind the gunfire remain, under investigation.
While the police provided no suspects or motives, they stated that the investigation is still very much active. Authorities are combing through the evidence collected at the scene to piece together what transpired on Cedar Avenue to cause such a potentially dangerous event.
Residents of the neighborhood expressed their concern over the incident, with no one in custody, the shooter or shooters remain at large. The LBPD is asking anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward, to help bring clarity and resolution to the unsettling event.
