Los Angelenos are bracing for a wet week ahead as the National Weather Service forecasts persistent showers, with a high probability of rain today and continuing through to Monday. The city can expect rain to drench the streets with new precipitation amounts ranging from a half to three-quarters of an inch today, maintaining the likelihood of a soggy landscape, according to the National Weather Service.
As the weekend progresses, the soggy scenario isn't letting up, with tonight's forecast predicting continued rainfall and low temperatures hovering around 52 degrees. The forecast provided by the National Weather Service suggests that rain is set to persist through Sunday with a 70% chance of precipitation and new amounts of rain expected to add up between a quarter and a half of an inch. Sunday night will similarly continue the trend of rain and gentle winds that could provide slight respite from the downpours.
The start of the workweek won't offer much of a reprieve as Monday brings with it rain before 10:00 am, followed by possible thunderstorms into the afternoon, and a chance of showers and thunderstorms thereafter. Then see a reduction in rain probability to 50 percent Monday night, mainly before 10:00 pm. The heavy rainfall could raise concerns for urban flooding and create challenging driving conditions across the region, with safety officials urging caution among commuters.
The forecast starts brightening with sunny skies taking over from Tuesday onward with temperatures also taking a gentle climb, by Friday the city is expected to bask in the sunshine with a high near a more comfortable 72 degrees offering a much-awaited dry and warmer end to the week.
