Flames ravaged a Highland Park residence early this morning before Los Angeles firefighters battled and quelled the blaze. According to a Los Angeles Fire Department alert, the fire at 115 E Av 39 was reported at 08:51 a.m., with heavy smoke billowing from the two-story single-family home as firefighters switched to offensive mode to combat the inferno.
The intense firefight featured multiple fire stations, as heavy smoke was showing as the teams from Los Angeles Fire Station 1, along with additional units, scrambled to the scene. In an operation that exemplified precision and speed, it was reported that the home’s second floor and attic were laced with fire.
Efforts to extinguish the fire were aggressive, crews pushed fire attack hose lines inside the burning structure, while ventilation teams worked overhead to cut through the roof. This strategic move was meant to allow smoke and heat to escape, facilitating a faster and safer extinguishment of the fire. As indicated by a follow-up LAFD notification, the fire appeared to have sparked near a space heater, though this is yet to be confirmed as the definite cause.
Marshaling a force of 34 firefighters, the LAFD disclosed that the blaze was knocked down in a mere 20 minutes, commencing from when the firefighters gained access to the structurally compromised building until the last flame was subdued. All this was achieved with no injuries reported.
