The search for at-risk missing person Martin Hernandez has come to a close as the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department announced today that he has been located. The department extended its gratitude to the community, the press, and its deputies for their efforts that were instrumental in locating Mr. Hernandez, whose absence had raised considerable concern among his loved ones and the public.
Hernandez, described as a 31-year-old Hispanic male, was last seen Monday evening around 6:20 p.m. on the 20000 block of South Kenwood Avenue. Statured at 5’07”, 220lbs., and identifiable by his bald head, brown eyes, and a distinctive "ANALILIA" tattoo above his left eyebrow, Martin was reported to suffer from depression triggering his at-risk status. He was said to possibly be heading towards the 20000 block of S. Budlong Ave., in Gardena. The sheriff's department had urged anyone with vital information to quickly step forward to aid their search.
The original alert, issued via Nixle, detailed his last seen wearing a red flannel shirt with black pants. During the time of his disappearance, his family's plea magnified the urgency of the situation, citing their worry for his well-being and the critical need for any helpful tips that could be provided to the authorities.
The Sheriff's Information Bureau communicated the positive development through a brief statement, appreciating the collective action that led to successfully locating Hernandez. Wider community engagement, coupled with media coverage, proved yet again to effectively assist law enforcement efforts. The sheriff's department, in its statement, did not furnish specifics of Hernandez’s condition or the circumstances under which he was found.
In line with ongoing efforts to keep the community informed, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department encourages residents to sign up for "Nixle" alerts for detailed, up-to-date information from the department and to stay alerted to urgent local developments by texting their zip code to 888777. These measures are part of the wider strategy designed to enhance communication between the sheriff's department and the community it serves.
