
A 20-year-old Maine man wanted for the murder of a co-worker, was shot and captured in Arkansas following a police pursuit, officials reported. Spridal Hubiak of Waterville, Maine was confronted by police after being spotted sleeping in a vehicle in the small city of Flippin, Arkansas.
The situation escalated when Hubiak fled in a 2010 black Ford Taurus leading to a police chase that eventually ended on Highway 65 in Boone County. According to Boston 25 News, the Arkansas State Police were able to disable the vehicle using spike strips. When Hubiak's car became disabled, he emerged with a rifle, shots were fired, and he was injured thereafter.
Hubiak is suspected of the killing of an employee at Damon's Beverage located on Jefferson Street in Waterville. The Maine Department of Public Safety stated that the body was discovered early Thursday morning, but the victim's identity has yet to be released to the public. An autopsy was scheduled for Friday.
Following the shooting incident in Arkansas, which is currently under investigation, Hubiak was airlifted to a medical facility in Green County, Missouri, officials said, His specific condition has not been disclosed, but he is expected to survive the ordeal.
Maine State Police, who had issued a murder warrant for Hubiak, are collaborating with Boone County Sheriff's Department and Arkansas State Police on the investigation. Authorities are still piecing together the events leading to the arrest. They urge anyone with relevant information to step forward, as reported by Fox News.
