According to a report provided by the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, 20-year-old Tyler Monfort was declared deceased after an alleged shooting incident involving his brother, 21-year-old Christian Monfort.
Deputies were called to the scene at Dignity Health Urgent Care in Fontana at approximately 4:30 p.m., where they found the victim in a vehicle suffering from his injuries. The urgency to provide aid was palpable, but it was already too late to save Tyler. His brother Christian, after seemingly trying to quickly distance himself from the incident on foot, was apprehended at a nearby business.
Christian Monfort, a resident of Jurupa Valley, was found with the weapon in his possession and has been booked at West Valley Detention Center on a murder charge. The situation before the shooting was reported to be a casual outing gone wrong, with detectives learning that Tyler, Christian, and a friend had driven to an off-road trail before the incident took a violent turn.
Following Tyler Monfort's shooting and subsequent death, detectives from the Sheriff's Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail, have taken up the matter in search of deeper answers. Christian is alleged to have not only shot his brother but also subsequently threatened an employee of another business with the same gun. These actions led to his swift capture by the authorities.
