
A man is dead after a confrontation with Hays County deputies in Buda, marking another fatal officer-involved shooting that investigators are now piecing together. Early Friday morning, deputies raced to a neighborhood following a distress call about an armed individual attempting to break into a residence, reported by KXAN.
Upon arriving at the Shadow Creek community's Hunter Creek Cove, deputies faced a man brandishing a knife in each fist, who, according to the sheriff’s office, was the ex-boyfriend of the caller's daughter, and despite several commands to drop the weapons, he did not comply leading to deputies discharging their firearms to neutralize the threat the man was subsequently shot and authorities administered life-saving measures but he succumbed to his injuries at the scene, as stated in KXAN.
The deputies involved have been placed on administrative leave, a standard procedure following such incidents, and were unscathed in the altercation. A joint investigation into the shooting has been launched by the Hays County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers to determine the full scope of the events leading to the fatal shooting, according to FOX 7 Austin.
