A fierce storm claimed a man's life in Clayton County this morning when a tree crashed down on his vehicle. Police responded to the scene near Highway 54/Fayetteville Road and Jenni Lane in Jonesboro at approximately 9:48 a.m., following the tragic incident.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered a white, four-door sedan, now marred by a tree penetrating its front windshield. Clayton County Fire & Emergency Services quickly declared the driver dead, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta. The severity of the storm had left multiple areas across metro Atlanta strewn with downed trees and flooding, wreaking havoc and resulting in numerous transportation snarls.
Details surrounding the identity of the driver were not immediately released, as police indicated ongoing investigations "more information as to the circumstances," according to a news release issued by Clayton County police and obtained by Atlanta News First.
