
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - A violent episode unfolded in the early hours of Wednesday when a man opened fire on his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend, before committing suicide, as confirmed by Federal Way Police. The confrontation took place in Federal Way, followed by the gunman's death in Tacoma.
According to FOX 13 Seattle, the shooting was reported after the victim arrived at MultiCare with a gunshot wound at 2:18 a.m. He told authorities he was with his girlfriend in a car at the Mariposa Apartments when the shooter fired into the vehicle. Luckily, the girlfriend escaped physical harm in the incident.
Federal Way Police eventually identified the shooter as the girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend. Officers attempted to make contact with him at his Tacoma residence. There, they discovered him deceased in his car from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. FWPD has indicated that there are no further suspects linked to this case.
The wounded man was transferred to Harborview Medical Center for medical attention. As reported by KING 5, his current condition has not been released, but he is receiving care for injuries sustained during a the assault. This tragedy has left authorities piecing together the motivation and aftermath of a relationship turned deadly.
While police continue their investigation, this incident raises concerns about the eruptions of violence that stem from domestic disputes and personal relationships gone awry. Officials have not released further details at this time. The community remains on edge, seeking answers and hoping for resolution to a senseless act of violence that has shaken the city of Federal Way and the surrounding Tacoma area.
