
A New Year's Day dispute turned violent in Long Beach, leaving one man wounded by gunfire, the Long Beach Police Department reported. The incident, which occurred on the 3000 block of Coolidge on the evening of January 1, became heated after a brief verbal altercation between the male adult victim and an undetermined number of suspects.
The argument quickly escalated and, according to the Long Beach PD's blotter, the suspect or suspects opened fire, hitting the victim in both the upper and lower body before fleeing the scene and leaving the victim in critical but stable condition, and at this time authorities have not released suspect information, and the search for the perpetrator or perpetrators continues as the investigation is still in its early phases.
Responding officers discovered the injured man shortly after 8:00 p.m., and emergency medical technicians from the Long Beach Fire Department arrived soon after to transport him to a local hospital, where he is receiving care for his non-life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, no other bystanders were harmed during the gunfire.
The Long Beach Police Department is now reaching out to the community for any information that may lead to the arrest of the individuals responsible for the shooting, with a plea for witnesses or any other helpful tips that can aid detectives in solving the case, and simultaneously they ensure the public that they are using all available resources to apprehend the suspect or suspects.
