A man was wounded in a shooting sparked by a fight on San Antonio's Southeast Side this past Saturday night, KSAT reports. The incident took place at approximately 8:30 p.m. in the 4000 block of East Southcross, close to Club View Drive. Police say the victim, a 25-year-old man, was with his brother when an altercation involving the brother and a woman escalated.
As tempers flared, a man accompanying the woman reportedly opened fire, striking the 25-year-old twice. The siblings ran for safety, with the injured man later discovered near a swimming pool. His current condition remains undisclosed. The gunman has yet to be apprehended, and his identity continues to be a mystery. It was also noted by Fox San Antonio that the altercation took place at an apartment complex on 4000 East Southcross Boulevard, presumably the same location.
Meanwhile, the San Antonio Police Department is investigating the chaotic scene where two vehicles were also hit by gunfire. Authorities have not released any additional information regarding potential suspects or the motive behind the shooting. Neither the connection between the fight and the shooting nor the nature of the relationship between the involved parties have been clarified.
Local residents and witnesses are urged to come forward with any information they might have. As the search for the shooter continues, the affected community grapples with the scourge of gun violence that interrupted the tranquility of an ordinary Saturday night. The injured man was promptly taken to a hospital with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening, according to Fox San Antonio. The incident adds to the city's ongoing struggle with violent crimes and underscores the need for increased vigilance in local neighborhoods.
