A high-speed chase unfurled on New Hampshire's I-93 as a man, allegedly under the influence, zipped past 100 mph and led state troopers on a dangerous pursuit that topped speeds of 130 mph, police say. In a statement obtained by Boston.com, the law enforcement officials reported that the chase ensued Monday at about 10:13 p.m. after a trooper spotted the driver carelessly weaving through traffic lanes and attempted to halt the silver Infiniti.
The driver, identified by police as 42-year-old Manchester man Travis Dahood, failed to yield, sparking a pursuit that would eventually cease for the safety of other motorists once the vehicle exited the highway. Driving erratically, and after the chase was abandoned, Dahood was later nabbed at his residence, where the car was registered, according to a statement from New Hampshire State Police reported by NBC Boston.
Additional layers to this reckless episode soon surfaced as the investigation confirmed Dahood was not only driving under the influence but did so with a suspended license. He is slapped with a slew of charges including felony reckless conduct, aggravated driving under the influence, disobeying a police officer, operating after suspension, and for the reckless and negligent manner, he opted to drive.
Released on bail and awaiting his day in Hillsborough Superior Court next month. As reported by police, the details surrounding whether the accused has obtained legal representation remain unclear.
