Manchester Man Suspected of Manslaughter After New Year's Eve Shooting Death of Woman

In Manchester, New Hampshire, a woman fell victim to a fatal shooting on New Year's Eve, law enforcement told Boston 25 News. The deceased, identified as 26-year-old Sophia Bonfiglio, sustained a gunshot wound at an apartment on Amherst Street, according to the Manchester Police Department's release.

Police responded to the scene at approximately 2 p.m., finding Bonfiglio seriously wounded, emergency services rushed her to Elliot Hospital where she battled for her life, and she was pronounced dead a few hours later. As the incident prompted a wave of investigation, Tyler Cook, also 26, was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter, as per the authorities, police reported he was another resident of the apartment where the shooting took place, say officials.

In connection to the killing, the arraignment for Cook is set for Tuesday at the Hillsborough County Superior Court. Meanwhile, an autopsy to determine the exact cause of Bonfiglio's death is scheduled for the following Tuesday, an official schedule by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, per statements obtained by NBC Boston.
