A McKinney man is accused of the brutal Christmas Day murder of his pregnant wife, officials stated. Nasib Ahsan, 33, was arrested and charged with capital murder after police discovered the body of Nawreen Tuli in their apartment following a welfare check initiated by a concerned relative, according to the McKinney Police Department.
Officers were summoned to the scene after an uncle of Ahsan reported he could not establish contact with Tuli and voiced fears over a history of domestic violence at the apartment located on Collin McKinney Parkway. Upon arrival, Ahsan told police that Tuli was merely sleeping, but a protective sweep revealed the grim reality: Tuli was found dead, with an autopsy later confirming her pregnancy, the WFAA reported.
Following the discovery, McKinney police stated that an arrest affidavit indicated Ahsan had admitted to choking Tuli during an argument. Ahsan allegedly retaliated after Tuli had choked him, leading to the fatal episode. The police investigation supported the notion that Tuli's injuries were consistent with strangulation.
Despite an earlier assault in November that led to Ahsan's arrest and a protective order filed against him, the couple found themselves together on that ill-fated day. Tuli's niece, Tasneem Kabir, revealed that "She was always an independent woman, but I don’t know what happened that she just accepted everything." Highlighting the tragic end of Tuli's aspirations for family life in the U.S., Kwabir expressed the desire for Ahsan to "be an example that no one can do that to anyone", as per FOX 4 News.
Currently held in the Collin County Jail on a $1 million bond, Ahsan awaits further court proceedings. The tragically late Tuli, who emigrated from Bangladesh seeking a fresh start, leaves behind not just unfulfilled dreams, but a stark reminder of the perils that can lurk behind closed doors—even in what should be the sanctity of one's own home.
