Minneapolis residents are being advised to bundle up as the city grapples with bone-chilling temperatures and the threat of brisk wind gusts. Today's forecast is sunny with a high near a mere 10 degrees, but wind chill values could make it feel as cold as -17 degrees. With winds picking up from the northwest at around 5 mph and trending south in the afternoon, the cold snap is expected to maintain its grip on the city, according to the National Weather Service.

Moving into the night, Minneapolis will see partly cloudy skies and temperatures hovering just below freezing at around -1 degree. This evening, those planning to step outside might face wind chills plummeting to a nippy -16 degrees, intensified by south winds ramping up to 15 mph. As reported by the National Weather Service, Sunday is forecasted to be partly sunny while temperatures climb to around 20 degrees. However, residents should be cautioned about wind gusts, reaching upwards of 35 mph, which could cut through the day's modest warmth.
The outlook for Sunday night through Tuesday night does not offer much respite from the winter's hold. A mix of mostly cloudy skies with lows around 16 degrees on Sunday night and breezy conditions will persist, as stated in the National Weather Service. Monday's temperatures are expected to slightly improve, reaching a high near 31 degrees, while Tuesday brings a 30 percent chance of snow and cloudy skies with a high near 34 degrees.
The latter half of the week holds more cloud cover with steady temperatures. The Hazardous Weather Outlook cautions against the potential of hazardous conditions, especially considering the likelihood of wind chills dipping as low as 15 to 20 below zero through Sunday morning. South winds are anticipated to continue fluttering in the range of 5 to 10 mph as the week progresses, with a 20 percent chance of rain come Thursday, possibly dampening spirits as much as the city's streets.
