In a late twist to a case that has gripped Minneapolis, Letterance Grady has pleaded guilty to two felony charges related to the 2021 shooting death of 12-year-old London Bean. The 42-year-old father admitted to aiding an offender by being an accomplice after the fact and harboring or concealing to avoid arrest, according to FOX 9.
Following his plea entered on Friday, Grady is now facing up to 10 years in prison, with his sentencing scheduled for Feb. 5. The guilty plea arrives just days before his trial was set to commence, which had been pegged for Jan. 2. Grady was captured on surveillance video driving his son, Jeremiah Grady, from the scene of the shooting that claimed the life of young Bean, as per Fox9.
Jeremiah Grady has already been sentenced for second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder, as he fired at Bean after a confrontation involving his younger brother. However, in a surprising turn, a representative from the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office informed 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS that the lead attorney on the case was unavailable for the trial, and the court would not reschedule, leading to a brief dismissal of the charges, as stated in 75abc KSTP-TV.
Immediately following the dismissal, the charges were promptly refiled against Grady. "Prosecutors will refile charges against him Wednesday," a spokesperson for the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office declared, indicating their intention to rigorously pursue justice in this case. Grady remains in custody, with a new court date waiting to be confirmed, reported by 75abc KSTP-TV.
