Minneapolis residents kicked off their Sunday with a blanket of dense fog, causing visibility on the roads to drop to less than a quarter of a mile in some areas of central, east-central, and south-central Minnesota. The National Weather Service Twin Cities/Chanhassen MN issued a Dense Fog Advisory effective until noon today, urging drivers to "slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you". The haziness was part of a foggy start to the day that included widespread freezing fog before 9 a.m., according to forecasts.
The NWS has advised the public that patchy freezing fog will likely set in again after 3 a.m. tonight, followed by patchy dense fog reappearing and potentially hindering visibility once more during the early morning hours on Monday. Temperatures are forecast to hit highs around 40 today, with calm winds shifting southwest, a hopeful sign for the fog to lift. The rest of the week looks to remain fog-free, with the mercury to gradually rise to the mid-40s.
We’ll have another night of patchy fog, primarily for southern and central MN. Sun is expected to make its way further east tomorrow, which will aid in a slight warm-up to end the month. #mnwx #wiwx pic.twitter.com/LKjnkiQFYu

As for the next days, "No hazardous weather is expected at this time," the NWS assured in their Hazardous Weather Outlook, indicating a respite from the fog that's engulfed the city. From Monday through Saturday, residents can look forward to parting with the pea soup and facing clearer skies as the week progresses.
This foggy ordeal isn't a stranger to Twin Cities dwellers, who have learned to navigate the murky conditions time and time again. With the week expected to unfold without further fog-related hazards, citizens are gearing up to reclaim their clear vistas and safely trod streets. Whether commuting to work or simply running daily errands, the clearer forecast ahead is a welcome change in visibility, as well as a nod towards the eventual spring thaw and all its promises of renewal.
