A gang of thieves connected to a string of heists stretching across Virginia, Indiana, and Georgia has been apprehended by the Cobb County police. The crew, nabbed in Marietta, Georgia, is believed to be responsible for over $500,000 in stolen goods and cash.
Working with a stretch of vital tips and inter-agency collaboration, Cobb County officials managed to pinpoint the suspects' location. "Using Flock cameras, they were able to track the vehicle that hit the house in east Cobb," Cobb County Officer Aaron Wilson said in a statement obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta. The burglars had allegedly opted to pose as flower delivery personnel to identify unoccupied homes ripe for invasion, a ploy that proved temporarily successful.
The brazen crew successfully looted a home in Duluth, hauling away $70,000 in valuables, and were subsequently linked to similar crimes spanning multiple states. Police caught up with the thieving quartet at a Hampton Inn near Franklin Gateway where they were staying in a manner consistent with their MO—striking near their temporary abodes.
Ultimately, it was Georgia's hospitality that saw to their downfall, with officers arresting three men and one woman, and recovering approximately $30,000 in gift cards. Officer Wilson told FOX 5 Atlanta about the arrest, stating, "Cobb County police officers were able to catch them, so that's great for us. But now that we have these people in custody, officers in other jurisdictions are able to follow suit and get justice for their victims as well."
Held at Cobb County Jail, the suspects' identities and ages have not been released to the public. The exact number of individuals involved in the burglary crew has yet to be specified by the authorities.
