Firefighters battled a fierce blaze that engulfed a Hercules home on New Year's Day on Crepe Myrtle Drive. At approximately 2:55 p.m., multiple fire departments, including Rodeo-Hercules, Contra Costa County, Crockett, Richmond, and El Cerrito, were called to the scene, where they encountered heavy smoke and flames bursting from the residence's second floor.
According to a Facebook post by the Rodeo-Hercules Firefighters, the fire also spread into the attic, complicating the firefighting efforts. Three of the home's occupants were transported to the hospital due to possible smoke inhalation.
The inferno required a joint effort, bringing multiple fire agencies together to contain and extinguish the flames. Visuals from the scene showed firefighters working tirelessly amid the smog and char.
The American Red Cross stepped in to provide necessary services to those affected, offering a glimmer of support amid the ashes of disruption.
