
A tragic start to the New Year occurred when an overturned vehicle was discovered off Lakeshore Drive in Lake Elsinore, claiming the life of the driver. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies from the Lake Elsinore Station responded to the scene at approximately 3:23 a.m. on January 1, 2024. Upon arrival, together with Cal Fire personnel, they located the vehicle and the trapped driver, who was subsequently pronounced dead at the location.
Attempting to rescue the individual from the wreckage, Cal Fire executed lifesaving measures that eventually proved unsuccessful. The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed, with officials waiting to notify next of kin, said Sergeant Brad Foster in a statement.
The investigation of the fatal accident has been handed over to the Traffic Unit of the Lake Elsinore Station. Witnesses who might have seen the incident unfold on the south side of Lakeshore Drive, near Manning Street, are being urged to come forward with any information they possess.
