Officers in Randolph swooped in on a major drug operation, seizing a haul of over 760 pounds of marijuana and nearly half a million dollars in cash. The sting, which spanned months, led to the arrest of two suspects and one other being summoned to court.
Mukunda Znajmiecka, 37, and Clifford Saint-Jean, 25, both from Braintree, face charges presented by local police. The evidence found on January 11 during raids in Randolph and Braintree included a substantial stash of marijuana with an estimated street value of $1.5 million, THC-infused candy, THC oil, and a cash count totaling $468,713. According to Randolph Police Department's report, these arrests reflect the culmination of a strategic policing effort.
Znajmiecka is being held accountable not just for trafficking marijuana over 100 pounds but also possession of Class C and Class E substances, including psilocybin mushrooms and steroids; Saint-Jean is implicated in the weed trafficking operation as well. Despite the seriousness of the situation, the identity of the third individual, a 34-year-old male from Braintree, remains protected by law until his court appearance due to the summons method of his charge for conspiracy to violate drug laws.
“This significant drug seizure is an excellent example of the multi-agency collaboration that helps to make our communities safer,” said Chief Anthony Marag in a show of unity that span across various law enforcement agencies, including the Randolph Police Street Crimes Unit, Braintree Police Department, and others, who all played pivotal roles in the investigation and arrests. In the aftermath of the search warrants, both Znajmiecka and Saint-Jean were promptly arrested and have since pleaded not guilty in the district court; they are scheduled for a pre-trial conference on February 14, as indicated in the report from the Randolph Police Department.
