
Tragedy struck on a California highway when a pedestrian was fatally injured after being hit by two vehicles on Friday evening. The incident, which closed State Highway 18 for hours, involved a 54-year-old Hispanic male from Apple Valley, who was struck by two separate drivers as he attempted to cross the road.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reported that the pedestrian was crossing State Highway 18 near Pawnee Road in Apple Valley around 6:05 p.m. when he was hit by an eastbound black Toyota Tacoma, the impact launched him into the path of a silver Dodge Ram 1500, which also struck him, leading to fatal injuries that resulted in his death at the scene, despite the efforts by the Apple Valley Fire Department and deputies from the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station.
Authorities have identified both drivers, a 48-year-old Hispanic male driving the Tacoma and a 37-year-old Hispanic male behind the wheel of the Dodge; neither was injured in the collision. Investigators have ruled out drugs and alcohol as factors in this crash, as stated in the official press release provided by the Sheriff-Coroner Department.
